Big Gold Nation? Former Cats Seek Gold in Men’s Basketball Olympic Competition for Team USA

@CoachRyanKY

PARIS, FRA.- The Olympic Games are just a few short weeks away from opening up festivities in France. On July 26, the Opening Ceremonies will take place in the shadows of the infamous Eiffel Tower from Jardins du Trocadero, kicking off the Summer competition garnering attention from sports fanatics worldwide.

Paris, often referred to as “The City of Love” is going to hold a special part of the Big Blue Nation’s collective heart in the Men’s Basketball competition. Three former Wildcats are rostered on the uber talented United States squad. The United States has won gold in each Olympic Games held since 2008, an impressive run for a sport that has grown in popularity and participation globally. Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, and Bam Adebeyo will be the Kentucky alums looking to continue that streak. Long removed from their days of dawning the blue and white, the three aforementioned NBA stars still hold a size-able following from the Kentucky fanbase.

Tough competition will await in Paris. Teams such as France, Greece, Spain, Serbia and China all boast formidable squads with all but China hosting recognizable names from the National Basketball Association. The Gold Medal will be anything but a cake walk for the United States.
