(LEXINGTON)- The Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Wofford Terriers in impressive fashion last night from Historic Memorial Coliseum by a score of 76-42. Kenny Brooks continues to shine as the Kentucky squad remains unblemished three games into their 2024-25 campaign.
The story of the night however was Dazia Lawrence, who racked up a sensational 19 points on 6/9 from the field and four of those coming from three-point land. Lawrence told the media after the game that: “I was just confident in my shot. I was just staying true to myself, not passing up an open shots as well. Overall, just being confident and knocking it down.” What impressed me most was her ability to come back from what could have been considered a demoralizing start for most players, as she picked up a foul on the first possession of the game. The ability to fight back shows tremendous resilience and resolve which speaks loudly to the leadership she could provide later in the season for Kenny Brooks.
Another notable performance of the night came yet again from Kentucky’s Clara Strack. The 6’5” sophomore from Buffalo, NY added yet another double-double to her resumé (her third in as many games this season). This time it included 16 points and 15 rebounds, as she made sure her prescence was felt on both ends of the floor.
Kentucky will face Louisville on Saturday from Historic Memorial Coliseum in a rivalry game that will be Kentucky’s first true test of the season. Louisville enters the game with a respectable ranking of #18 in the polls, not far ahead of Kentucky’s #20. The game will begin at 6pm , ET and will be available to stream on SEC Network +.
